Georgia Department of Labor Sponsors Job Expo for Military Veterans

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will sponsor a job expo for veterans and other job seekers Thursday, May 9, in Athens. The expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at VFW Post 2872, located at 835 Sunset Drive.

The expo will focus primarily on helping active-duty military personnel, retirees, National Guard and reserve units, and their family members; however, it will also be open to the general public.

The expo will feature a number of employers, educational institutions, and resource agencies that provide assistance to job seekers. Some employers will be hiring, while others will discuss possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers.

GDOL staff will be available to provide employment-related assistance to job seekers, while veterans’ representatives will offer employment and other assistance to military veterans.

Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment.
