Georgia Museum of Art - Family Day
Exploring the arts with your kids -- Print It!
Exploring the arts...what a great way to spend a Saturday morning with your kids!Β My family and I recently started attending Family Day at the .Β Family Day events are open to the public and are all free, unless otherwise noted. Print It was the theme of this Saturday's Family Day event since several new collections on prints and printmakersΒ just opened over the weekend.
Family Days are sponsored by Heyward Allen Motor Co., Heyward Allen Toyota, YellowBook USA and the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art.Β The events are held in the Michael and Mary Erlanger Studio Classroom located in the museum. On this particular Saturday, different areas were set up in the classroom for theΒ children to try different print making techniques. The kids got to use cut fresh fruitΒ with colorful stamp pads to make some beautiful and unique artwork. TheΒ kids and parents learned that there are many ways to transferΒ images from one surface to another using different methods and materials.
My daughter had a blast and cannot wait to go back to the Museum of Art for the next Family Day.Β In my opinion, you are never too young to start learning and appreciatingΒ all of theΒ different forms ofΒ art. Free events like thisΒ bring in kids who may have neverΒ entered anΒ art museum, and thenΒ expose them to different formsΒ of art.Β Β
