Heads Up! Days Change for Garbage and Recycling Collection in Athens, Ga.

If you have a sudden need to get yourself a rolling container for recycling materials, you'll have to wait until Wednesday. The Athens Clarke County Department of Solid Waste is closed until then.

Speaking of solid waste, residential garbage and recycling that is normally collected on Monday or Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday this week. Those efficient workers will be booking it on Wednesday. All the Thursday and Friday people, no changes for you.

The curbside recycling and garbage services in the Downtown District will be collected according to the usual schedule. All the other commercial curbside and commercial dumpsters for garbage and recycling services that are usually collected on Monday and Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday, December 26.

You might as well let your leaves lie. There's no leaf & limb collection this week. Next week, collection begins in Zone 5.

The landfill on Lexington Road will be closed until Wednesday, December 26.

Oh, don't think about visiting a public park today or tomorrow. All ACC Leisure Services facilities and parks will be closed for Christmas, reopening on Wednesday, with regular hours.

Numerous local government offices will be closed today and Tuesday, including City Hall, the Clarke County Courthouse, the Satula Avenue Building and the Dougherty Street Building. They will open as usual on Wednesday.
