Malfunctioning Heat Lamp Causes Athens Business Fire
The fire department released footage of the incident on its Facebook page.
ATHENS, GA — A malfunctioning heat lamp caused a fire Saturday at an Atlanta Highway business, according to the Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services Monday.
There were no injuries, but the building suffered extensive smoke damage after the 7:30 a.m. fire. The fire department released footage of the incident on its Facebook page.
When firefighters arrived, fire officials said they saw light smoke showing from the eaves of the roof. The firefighters forced their way into the building, where a large amount of smoke and fire were seen. The fire was quickly extinguished, fire officials said.

Employees were allowed back into the building after the smoke cleared, fire officials said.
