Man Arrested for Public Intoxication After Falling Asleep in Parks, on Porches

An Athens man was arrested for public intoxication Wednesday night after falling asleep in a park and on the porch of an Athens residence, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.
Police responded to Reese Park at about 7:30pm after they received a call about a man who was passed out. They found Ronnie Cooper, 52, lying under a park bench with his pants pulled down and his boxer shorts exposed. After trying to rouse him, police pulled his wallet from his pants to identify him.

Cooper woke up after EMT officials used chemicals to rouse him, but then became upset and wouldn't let the EMT workers touch him. He responded to all of the officer's questions with "Say no more" and left.
At about 10 p.m., police received another call of a man passed out on Barber Street. Cooper was asleep on the front steps of a residence. The young wome who live there were reportedly gathered at the window, afraid to come out. After EMT workers responded and woke Cooper up, the officer asked if he had a ride or if he had anywhere to go. He responded, "Say no more."

Cooper was arrested for public intoxication. He was transported to the Clarke County Police.
