Man Attempts to Steal Ammunition to 'Make Some Extra Money'

The information in this story comes from the AC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

A man was arrested early Thursday morning after he attempted to steal nearly $200 worth of ammunition from the Lexington Road Wal Mart, according to an report.

Police arrived at Wal-Mart shortly before 1 a.m. after an employee reported that a man he was following had concealed boxes of ammunition in his clothes. Officers stopped Diego Suarez, 22, as he was exiting and asked if he had anything in his pockets. At the time, Suarez was still being followed by the store employee.

Suarez told police he didn't have anything and consented to be checked. When he lifted his arms away from his side, an officer found two boxes of federal ammunition in each pocket on his jacket. He then said the ammo was in his pocket because it was an "easy way to make some extra money."

Suarez was barred from the Lexington Wal Mart for two years. He was charged with shoplifting and taken to Clarke County Jail.
