Man Demands Dollar, Then Steals Cell Phone from Man's Car

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

An unknown person allegedly stole an Athens' man's cellphone Tuesday after demanding a dollar from the man and threatening to shoot him, according to an Athens Clarke County Police report.

The man told police that he was leaving Perry's Liquor Store on Lexington Road when a man in a dark green Honda demanded a dollar. When he laughed at the man, the person in the dark green Honda got out and followed him. At one point the victim spat on the ground and the man allegedly said "you spat at me."

As the victim got into his car, the man following him opened the door and demanded money. He said he had a gun, although the victim said he didn't believe the man did.
