Man Points Knife at Women, They Run, He Gets Arrested
The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Close to 10pm on Tuesday, two women were walking in the 800 block of Gaines School Road near LaParilla. A man crossed the road and came toward them, they told officers. When he was about three feet away, he raised his right hand, in which he held a knife, and his left hand, indicating “stop.” They ran across the road and called for help.
Athens Clarke County Police officers arrived and talked with the women. One responding officer saw a man near the intersection of Cedar Shoals Drive who fit the women’s description.
He stopped and identified him. While another officer detained him, the first officer searched the area and found a knife similar to what the women had described. Each woman viewed the suspect individually and each confirmed Cedric Courtes Smith as the suspect.
