Motorcyclist Killed When Pickup Turns in Front of Him
The accident happened around 6 a.m. Friday on Atlanta Highway in Athens.
A Jefferson, Ga., motorcylist was killed in a Friday morning accident in Athens around 6 a.m.
Athens-Clarke Police said Jarred Sidney Scruggs, 26, was killed when a car turned in front of him and struck his motorcycle on Atlanta Highway near Fairfield Circle.
Scruggs was riding a 2013 Triumph motorcycle eastbound on Atlanta Highway and was struck by a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by Derek Justin Sanders, 23, of Canon, Ga.

Sanders was trying to turn into a parking lot from the westbound direction when the accident happened.
The accident is still under investigation. No charges were immediately filed.
