Movie Professionals Tour Athens, Searching for Possible Locations To Shoot

Members of the non-profit FilmAthens show the Classic City to film professionals.

When hits theaters, Athens residents will be sure to spot scenes shot in , a popular downtown bar and restaurant. If local film professionals and enthusiasts have anything to do with it, more places in Athens will be appearing on the big screen.

This weekend, members of FilmAthens brought to Athens location managers--those who decide what buildings, landscapes, interior rooms and even  streets--from Hollywood and independent studios, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald. They toured them around the city and the University of Georgia, showing them that Athens is camera ready.

This weekend marks the first of FilmAthens’ “Lights, Camera, Athens!” two-day promotional tours, according to the Banner Herald story. The goal is to convince "industry decision makers" that Athens is a viable camera-ready place for filmmakers.
