A Night at the Morton: Celebrating American Roots Musicians with McIntosh County Shouters, The Skillet Lickers, Tony Bryant

Concert and talk featuring three American roots musicians.

March 29, 7:00pm, Morton Theatre

Concert and talk featuring three American roots musicians who have been documented or worked in collaboration with folklorist and UGA professor Emeritus Art Rosenbaum. They include Tony Bryant, The Skillet Lickers, and the World acclaimed McIntosh Country Shouters. The event is organized by the Athens Music Project, an interdisciplinary research initiative of the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, co-directed by Jean Ngoya Kidula and Susan Thomas of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

The event is sponsored by the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, UGA President’s Venture Fund, Institute of African American Studies, Franklin College Visiting Scholar, UGA Special Collections Libraries, The Athens Downtown Development Authority, the Morton Theatre Corporation, and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
