Nina Borremans, EA, Opens Tax and Accounting Practice in Athens, Ga.

Nine Borremans is a tax accountant with 15 years professional experience. She provides expert personalized tax and accounting services to individuals, small businesses, estates, trusts, and nonprofit organizations. She is opening an office at 142 Featherwood Court in Athens and will meet clients by appointment.

Borremans is an Enrolled Agent, the highest credential the Internal Revenue Service awards. it entitles her to represent her clients before the IRS and help them resolve any tax problems that may come up.

Borremans also provides her clients with tax planning and consultation, as well as accounting and bookkeeping assistance.

Tax preparation is Borremans’ second career. She started out in Florida as an archeologist doing research for 20 years on prehistoric peoples, mainly in Florida and Georgia.

When she moved with her family to Athens in 1995, she was ready for a new challenge that didn’t involve out-of-town fieldwork. She signed up for an H&R Block tax preparation course, eventually becoming a tax preparer, office manager, and class instructor. 

In 2003. she was hired as an accountant by Collins/Moody and Company and spent the next 8½ years providing tax and accountings services for many kinds of clients. 

“I especially enjoyed working with nonprofits. Some had to have their financial statements audited or reviewed, but most just needed guidance to comply with new IRS regulations and to get their annual IRS reporting return prepared -- a very complex procedure.

“Now here I am, 15 years later, very enthusiastic about starting a solo tax practice.

“I’d like to build a practice with clients who want personalized service, attention to detail, and a trusted advisor for their financial decisions,” Borremans says. “My goal is to develop long-term partnerships with my clients,” she adds, “and I’m available year round to assist them.”
