Police Calls: Marijuana Arrest, Multiple Burglaries Reported

ARREST
Around 3 a.m. August 7, an officer on patrol saw a vehicle on Lexington Road with suspended registration. A traffic stop was made in the 1500 block and the driver identified. A computer check revealed her license was suspended. As the officer talked with her, he smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed two bags containing a green leafy substance, digital scales, and a grinder. A field test of the substance was positive for marijuana. Anisha Tayana Hayes, 22, Highland Park Dr, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Suspended/Revoked
License, and Suspended/Canceled/Revoked Registration.

BURGLARY
A Claxton resident reported a Gaines School Road storage unit was burglarized within the last few days. A video game system and clothing with a total value of $699 were stolen. This was reported around 11 a.m. on August 6.

A woman said while sitting in the bedroom of her Research Drive residence, she heard someone open the locked door with a key. She closed the bedroom door and texted her boyfriend. While waiting for him to arrive, she heard someone rummaging through the kitchen. When her boyfriend arrived, she discovered the contents of her purse had been dumped on a table. Nothing is known missing. This occurred around 11 a.m. on August 6.

An Essex Court residence was burglarized between 3 p.m. August 4 and 2 a.m. August 6. A TV valued at $1,200 was stolen.

A Hollis Street residence was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. August 6. A tablet, gaming console, and Chrome book were stolen. The total value was $640.

THEFT BY TAKING

A 1998 Ford Expedition was stolen from a Rocksprings Court residence between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. August 7. The vehicle is black, with Georgia tag PMY5723, and is valued at $1,000.
