Police: Man Arrested After Waving Handgun Out Pickup Window

Athens police officers received a tip Wednesday that a passenger in a black pickup truck was waving around a gun outside the window on Lexington Road.

An officer in the area stopped a vehicle matching the description.

The driver, Deshun Dewon Watkins, 27, of Athens was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana 1 oz. or less, possession of schedule I, II substances, failure to wear a seat belt, according to a police news release.

Passenger Forenzo Alfredo Jones, 27, of Statham, who had allegedly waved his gun outside the window, was arrested and charged with criminal use of a handgun with an altered ID mark.
