Police Reports: Rape, Car Jacking, Assaults and Robberies

Athens-Clarke County Police Department briefs, July 27.

Rape
A 24-year-old female reported a rape at her Southeast Athens residence. Darrius Richmond was arrested and charged with rape, battery, false imprisonment and criminal trespass.

Robbery

An Athens man reported he was robbed in his residence on Winterville Road on July 23. He reported that a female came into his house and he took out his wallet. She grabbed his wallet and tried to pull it away from him. A male then entered his home and struck him in the face knocking him down. The suspects left with his wallet.
An Athens man reported on July 26 around 12:15 p.m. that while sitting on the stone steps to a house on Meigs Street, a male approached from behind. The man stated that he heard the male say “Move it!” The suspect then snatched his purse and ran toward the back of the building toward Broad Street.

Armed Robbery/Car Jacking

A man reported that on July 26 around 11:30 p.m. he was robbed at gunpoint of a green, convertible Audi and his personal property by two males at the Kwiki Kar Wash, 140 Barber Street. The suspects approached him and his passenger from behind and demanded the vehicle and the contents of the victims` pockets. After getting the items from them, the suspects made them walk away from them while the suspects got in the vehicle and left up Barber Street towards Boulevard.

Aggravated Assault/Burglary

An Upland Court resident reported that around 7:15 p.m. on July 26 a Playstation 3, US Currency, a watch and three pairs of shoes were stolen, total value $3,200. She learned of the burglary from a neighbor. The neighbor reported that two males approached him with guns pointed at him and asked who lived at house. The suspects then ran to the back of the house and he heard a loud noise.

Aggravated Assault

An Athens woman reported on July 26 around 6 p.m. that her live-in boyfriend got into an argument over his slamming of doors. She stated that during the argument the boyfriend began choking her to the point that she thought she was going to pass out. A juvenile witnessed the incident. Sidney Simon was arrested for aggravated assault.

Motor Vehicle Theft

A woman reported on July 26 around 8 a.m. that her green 1999 Ford Escort was stolen from the Broadacers Court parking lot where it was parked the night before around 2:30 a.m.

A man reported the theft of a trailer and a lawnmower at his Pine Valley Drive residence. The total value of the property was $5,300.

Entering Auto

A woman reported that on July 26 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. someone broke into her 2010 Toyota Highlander while it was parked at 200 Trail Creek Street, East Athens Community Park. Her purse, wallet, US currency and credit cards were stolen, total value $1,155.

Theft

A woman reported that a theft occurred at her Timothy Road residence after a cable man came to her home on June 24. She did not notice the theft until July 20. A total of $4,000.00 in jewelry was stolen.
