Man Wounded in Tivoli Gardens Shooting Charged with Felony Murder

Anthony Gray Coleman was charged on Friday with felony murder in the case of David Mack Collins, who was killed on July 7.

Athens Clarke County Police have arrested a man who was wounded in the Sunday night shootout in Tivoli Apartments.

Anthony Gray Coleman, Jr., 23, of Royal Court, was shot and David Mack Collins, 22, was shot and then died in the parking lot of Tivoli Apartments on Gaines School Road, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald. Police arrested Coleman when he went to police headquarters on Friday afternoon to retrieve some of his belongings taken by police during the murder investigation.

According to the newspaper story, Coleman told police that Collins and he were shot by the same person at roughly the same time. Police have charged Coleman with felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, the story says.
