Police: UGA Student Killed in Suspected Drug Deal

The 21-year-old died from a single gunshot wound.

Athens-Clarke County Police said a University of Georgia student was shot to death Tuesday in a suspected drug deal that turned violent.

Police said in a media release that Min Seok Cho, 21, died from a single gun shot. Cho was taken by an unknown person to Athens Regional Medical Center, where he died.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim met the person or persons responsible for the shooting to exchange marijuana,” police said in the media release.

Athens-Clarke police, UGA Police, the GBI and the Clarke Coroner’s Office are investigating the case as a homicide.

Cho’s body will be taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy and post-mortem exam.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those individuals responsible for this crime.
