PRSSA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA HOSTS NEBO

ATHENS, Ga. – Jan. 15, 2014—The John E. Drewy Chapter of PRSSA welcomed the co-founder and CEO as well as four other employees from the digital marketing agency Nebo at their first meeting of the spring semester. Nebo is a relatively small agency, employing about 50 people, but has effectively maintained its role in a competitive market while sticking to its core values.

Before beginning his presentation to PRSSA, the Co-founder and CEO of Nebo, Brian Easter, explained Nebo’s unique identity in the advertising and marketing industry. He believes the agency model is broken, stating that many companies operate on a “hire and fire” system that Nebo strives away from. And in its ten years of business, Nebo has not laid one single employee off. As Brian Easter told his audience, “We created Nebo to bring humanity back to digital.”

Brian Easter’s presentation to PRSSA, available on Nebo’s blog, is titled, “How to Change the World,” which takes a public relations approach on how to bring big, scary ideas to life. Easter cited examples of several historical figures and more recent innovators to outline the difference between good public relations and great public relations. Easter advised audience members on how to implement real change through crucial PR tactics that have withstood the test of time.

Easter instructed the audience to hone in on nine elements in becoming “great”: Don’t Limit Yourself, Ask “Why?” Instead of “How?”, Instill Purpose in Everything, Find Unresolved Conflict, Tell a Story, Inspire, Take a Stand, Be a Change Agent and Make the World a Better Place. Easter let the chapter with one big question—what is your personal manifesto, which he defined as “a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer.” Brian Easter challenged his audience at PRSSA to “think big”—with the same ferocity he and his fellow colleagues epitomize in their notable accomplishments at Nebo.
