'Rattling' at the Door; Copper Pipe Stolen; Truck, Scooter Taken

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

An Athens man said he was sitting in the living room of his North Poplar St residence around 12:55 a.m. September 12. He heard someone “rattling” the screen door. After he banged on the door to let them know someone was home, the noise stopped. He looked out but did not see anyone. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone.

Between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. September 11 copper pipe valued at $1,500 was stolen from the crawl space of a Mercer Lane residence owned by Freddie Mac Home Loans. When a witness saw a man stealing the wire, the suspect fled on foot. The witness did not call police when this occurred. No description was given of the suspect.

A Tucker man reported a Whitehall Road rental residence was burglarized between 12 p.m. August 20 and 2:50 p.m. September 11. Clothing, CDs, DVDs, books, scrap metal, an air compressor, keys and locks, a BB gun, hand tools, a table, and stereo with speakers were stolen. The total value was estimated at $1,000.

A Chalfont Lane residence was burglarized between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. September 10. Book bags, a video game system, cable box, shoes, watches, a hat, and clothing were stolen. Later in the evening, the resident advised some of the items had been returned. The missing items were valued at $1,060.

A Lavender Road residence was burglarized between 6 p.m. September 11 and 1 a.m. September 12. TVs, a video game console, iPad with case, a jewelry box containing assorted jewelry, a watch, and an iPod were stolen. The total value was $4,099.

THEFT BY TAKING

A 2014 Taoi scooter stolen from a Barnett Shoals Road residence between 5:45 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. September 11. The scooter is black and valued at $2,000.

A 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 was stolen from a Mabry Drive residence between April 1 and August 15. The truck had mechanical problems and had been left at that location. It is white, with Georgia tag PMQ5483, and is valued at $1,500. This was reported on September 11.
