Report of Shots Fired Leads to Multiple Charges for Athens Man

ARREST
Around 10 p.m. October 7 an officer heard what sounded like gunshots in the area of W Broad Street and Honeysuckle Lane. At the same time Communications received a complaint of a male shooting at a Honeysuckle Lane residence. When officers arrived, they made contact with a male who matched the description given of the suspect. An officer asked for and was granted permission to pat him down for a weapon. During the search, a handgun, shoulder holster, ammo magazine, loose ammunition, and a small plastic baggie of a green leafy substance were found. Larry Heard, 62, Magnolia Street, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, and Reckless Conduct.
ENTERING AUTO
Between 7 p.m. October 6 and 7 a.m. October 7 a vehicle owned by Certa Pro Painters was entered while parked at the business on Wynburn Avenue. A pressure washer with attachments, an oscillating tool, chop saw, and air compressor were stolen. The total value was $2,000.
THEFT BY TAKING
A 2007 Hooper flatbed trailer was stolen from an Atlanta Highway location between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. October 3. The trailer has mesh sides, displays Georgia tag TL96266, and is valued at $2,000. The theft was not reported until October 7.
