Series of Outdoor Garden Concerts Begins June 12

The State Botanical Garden sponsors the Sunflower Music Series in Athens, Ga.

 

Wash those blankets and clean your picnic baskets. The summer Sunflower Music Series is beginning at the State Botanical Garden on June 12. There are four concerts during the next four months.

Each two-hour concert begins at 7 p.m. on the stage of the Flower Garden, a terraced area between the Day Chapel and the Visitor Center and Conservatory.

When is who playing?

June 12—Whisper Kiss, opening for Randall Bramblett.

July 10 – Romper Stompers, with Danielle Howle opening

August 28 – Grogus 

September 25 – Arvin Scott Quartet

What does it cost?

Adults are $15, children 6 to 12 are $5. Friend of the Botanical Garden pay $10 each. A pass for all four concerts is $50, $35 for Friends and $15 for children ages 6-12. You can call 706/542-1244 to buy tickets, you can stop by the garden gift shop, or go through (706/369-9428). 

What do you get?

Besides admission, you receive beverages and light snacks. Those attending should bring blankets--lawn chairs are only for those with physical limitations--and picnic dinners. The picnic-less can buy supper from Dondero’s Kitchen.

Anything else?

If it rains, the concerts will move inside the Visitors Center.
