Spring into 3 Porch Farm's Plant Sale and Tour
Mandy and Steve O'Shea open 3 Porch Farm for one day of tours and plant sales this Saturday, with music by the Red Oak Southern String Band plus other tasty treats.
Everyone who comes to either the Saturday or Wednesday Athens Farmer's Market is familiar with 3 Porch Farm's quaint booth, decorated with brightly colored gingham tablecloths, Lou Kregel signs, and an assortment of fruits, vegetables, flowers and treats from the kitchen.
Steve and Mandy O'Shea's solar-powered 3 Porch Farm is so popular, in fact, they're opening the farm this Saturday for a one-day farm tour and plant sale before their busy growing season begins.
“When the season starts, we’re not going to see anyone,” says Mandy in this week's Flagpole story. “So this is our, ‘we love you, everybody come hang out with us, let’s have a great time,’ and then let’s jump into summer.”

In addition to talks and tours of the farm, as well as selling plants, flower arrangements and other treats, Steve and Mandy have invited The Comerian bakery to sell pastries and Blackbriar Farms to sell meat and eggs. 1000 Faces Coffee will furnish coffee in the morning, and the Red Oak Southern String Band will entertain guests throughout the event.
"We call our music 'Feelgood Americana,'" says Andrew Hinerfeld of the Red Oak Southern String Band, "because the tunes we play are either familiar songs that people generally enjoy listening to and are familiar with (some traditional and some contemporary), or originals that we hope will make people feel good. At least, we feel good playing them!"

The festive event begins at 10 a.m. and ends around 2 p.m. All are encouraged to attend (except pets - the farm isn't ready for them, yet).
