St. Mary's to Buy Greensboro Hospital

St. Mary’s Health Care System, Inc. says it has signed a letter of intent to buy Saint Joseph’s East Georgia (SJEG) in Greensboro from Saint Joseph’s Health System (SJHS).

St. Mary’s plans to build a new hospital in Greensboro to serve the many communities in the lake area region. Hospital officials are keeping terms of the purchase confidential. 

Before the transaction is final, several regulatory agencies must approve it.  St. Mary’s President and CEO Don McKenna said it will be finished sometime in the coming months.

Saint Joseph's bought Minnie G. Boswell in 2008. St. Mary's is a private, Catholic hospital.
