Steak Theft Leads to Knife Threat

employees were threatened with a knife Sunday after a woman stole five steaks, according to an report.

Police were dispatched to the store at about 1 p.m. Sunday due to a reported shoplifiting. While driving to the Bell's, a caller told officers that the person shoplifting had attempted to stab one of the store employees.

Employees and witnesses told police that a woman wearing a purple top and white skirt had walked out of the store with five steaks. One employee told police he followed the woman until she handed the steaks back and walked toward Hawthorne Avenue. He tried to keep her from leaving, but a red car pulled up and a man driving asked him, "What are you doing to my wife?"

After the man pulled up, the woman turned and told the employee "I'll stab you" and then made a slashing motion at him. The employee couldn't tell whether she had a knife because she had long sleeves. 

The store manager followed the car until it turned onto U.S. 441 and drove into Jackson County. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has been given a vehicle description.
