Stolen Handgun, Methamphetamine Lead to Teenager's Arrest

An officer was patrolling the parking lot of Howard Johnson Lodge on West Broad Street at 12:43am on August 31 when he saw a suspicious person inside a vehicle.
The young man got out of the vehicle and appeared to be nervous. He consented to letting the officer search both him and the vehicle.
The officer found a.380 caliber handgun and a clear bag full of a white crystal substance in the car. This white crystal substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Dennis Austin Roberts, 18, Brewers Ridge Road, Elberton, was charged with Theft By Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of A Weapon During Commission of A Crime, and Distribution of Hallucinogen.
