Storybook Characters Come to Fowler Drive

There were livestock, pilgrims and all kinds of animals at Fowler Drive Elementary on Friday morning. Students were lined up for a parade of storybook characters.

The parade is an annual event at Fowler Drive, said Susan Henderson, who works in the school's media center. It originally was started to commemorate National Children's Book Week, and it continued, even though the week is celebrated at another time, she said.

Friday morning, favorite books like "Go, Dog, Go!" came to life, along with "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and "A Bad Case of Stripes."
