Suspect Caught with Oxycodone, Adderall, Cocaine, Pot

ARREST
Around 6:45 p.m. on August 13, officers on patrol saw a vehicle parked on Broad Acres Court. They made contact with a male in the driver’s seat. As officers talked with the male, they could smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. He gave a name and date of birth, which were determined to be false. The male was identified as Orlando Tate. A computer check revealed he had outstanding warrants. When asked to exit the vehicle, Tate initially refused to do so. He eventually complied and was arrested. As he was being handcuffed, Tate tensed up and tried to reach into his front pants pocket. After he was secured, a search of his person revealed a plastic bag containing a green leafy material, a white powdery substance, and several pills. A search of the vehicle revealed plastic baggies, a box of sandwich bags, and a digital scale. The pills were identified as Oxycodone and Adderall. Tate, 37, Deer Creek Drive, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I/II Drugs, Drug Offense within 1,000’ of Housing, Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance, and Giving False Information.

BURGLARY
An East Creek Bend residence was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on August 13. TVs valued at $1,750 were stolen.

A Gaines School Road storage unit burglarized sometime prior to 6:40 p.m. on August 13. Items were rummaged through but nothing is known missing.

Officers responded to an alarm at a Holmes Avenue residence around 7:30 p.m. on August 13. Upon arrival, they saw a male sitting in the front yard with lawn care equipment and he was detained. Investigation revealed entry had been made through a window. The resident did not report any missing items. It was determined the detained male had entered the residence but resident did not want to prosecute since nothing was missing. The male was released with no charges filed.

BATTERY
An Atlanta man said he was at an East Clayton Street bar when an unknown white male sucker-punched him causing him to fall to the floor. He said while on the floor, the suspect repeatedly punched him in the face before bystanders pulled him off. The suspect left before officers arrived. EMS responded and, after evaluation, transported the man to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his face. The suspect was further described as wearing a red shirt. This occurred around 1 a.m. August 14.

THEFT BY TAKING
Rims and tires valued at $1,000 were stolen from a vehicle while it was at R&T Mechanic Shop, 195 Ruth Street. The theft occurred between 9 p.m. August 12 and 8:1 August 13. The suspect is a black male, no further description available.
