The Poster Child Turns To Venue Dog For Event Hunt

Find them stapled to telephone poles, plastered in store fronts and passed out on street corners. They cover the bathroom stalls of music venues and wedge themselves under windshield wipers. Upcoming shows, weekly drum circles, support groups, seminars, rallies, talent shows, garage sales, clothing swaps, guitar lessons, fundraisers and poetry slams - Athens, Ga is a city covered in fliers touting the cities upcoming events. 

Seventeen weeks ago I decided that I would attend one of these posted event each week for one year. Little did I know that my simple, albeit ambitious, resolution would land me in the center of a reiki healing circle on Prince Avenue, or find me strumming a balalaika ( a Russian folk guitar) in the living room of a retired UGA music professor's living room. Each week is more pleasantly bizarre than the prior.
