These Books are to be Tasted and Enjoyed at the Athens Clarke County Library
Yumm! Some of these books will no doubt be devoured.
As Sir Francis Bacon once said, “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and the other few to be chewed and digested.” Here at the Athens-Clarke County Library, we take these famous words quite literally as the inspiration for our upcoming Edible Book Contest, a part of our 100th Birthday Celebration!
Have your cake and eat it, too, while submitting an original edible creation based on a fictional or non-fictional work or character. Those wishing to enter the contest must submit an entry form by Saturday, April 6. The judging will take place on Saturday, April 13, at 1:00 p.m., with prizes going to first and second place winners in each category.

Categories include Best Children’s, Fiction, and Nonfiction Book, and a People’s choice, determined by a popular vote. Creations can be made of any food or foodstuffs, limited only by your creativity, and must be at least 95% edible. All contest rules and regulations can be found on the back of the entry form. If you’re in need of a little inspiration, search online to view edible works of art created by readers all over the world!
This event is free and open to the public. Those entering the contest can find entry forms at the Athens-Clarke County Library. For more information, please call (706) 613-3650. The Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street.
