Thief Takes 'Jaws of Life' After It Fell Off Athens-Clarke Fire Truck
The life-saving device is valued at $7,000.
Athens-Clarke Police are looking for a man suspected in taking a “jaws of life” that fell off a fire truck while it was en route to an emergency.
According to a police media release, the life-saving device, which is used to extract victims from vehicles in car accidents, fell from the Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services Department truck near the Oglethorpe-Hawthorne intersection.
The stolen item is valued at $7,000.

Police say witnesses saw “an older black man” take the device and put it in the back of a red Ram 1500 pickup truck.
“A suspect was developed through the tag number, but officers were unable to make contact with him,” said the media release.
