$Thousands in Jewelry, Guns Taken in Athens Burglary

Burglary

An Athens woman reported that between 8 p.m. Sept. 7 and 7 p.m. Sept. 9 someone attempted to burglarize her Florida Avenue residence. A window screen valued at $20 was damaged in the attempt but entry was not made into the residence.

An Athens man reported that between 12 p.m. Sept. 6 and 3 p.m. Sept. 12 someone burglarized his father’s Westview Drive residence. Items taken include two desk top computers valued at $500 each, an electric garage door controller valued at $30, a trash can valued at $50, 12 pocket knives valued at $10 each and a gold pocket watch valued at $1,000.

An Evergeen Terrace residence was burglarized between 12 p.m. Sept. 11 and 6 p.m. Sept. 12. Items taken include a Ruger handgun valued at $300, a Colt handgun valued at $300, a High Standard handgun valued at $300, 30 Percocet valued at $1 each, a $20 gold piece with 2 gold rope chains valued at $5,000, a 3 ct. waterfall ring valued at $4,000, a dinner ring with 3 rubies and 2 diamonds valued at $1000, 2 ct. pear shaped diamond valued at $3,000, 2 ct. gold pear shaped diamond valued at $3,000, an Apple MacBook Pro computer valued at $1,000 and an Apple IMac computer valued at $2,000.

Aggravated Assault

An Athens woman said around 6:15 a.m. on Sept. 12 she was assaulted by her boyfriend whom she had lived with previously. She reported that he approached her originally with a crowbar then got into her vehicle with a knife and forced her to drive to an abandoned residence. She reported that he then choked her and beat her.

An Athens man reported he was assaulted by a man with a gun in the area of Cook and Washington drives. The assault happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.

Theft by Taking (Motor Vehicle)

An Athens man reported that between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 12, his 2009 Dodge Journey valued at $10,000 was stolen from a business on Atlanta Hwy.

An Athens woman reported her 1989 Mazda 626 valued at $1,500 was stolen from a business on Hawthorne Ave.

Child Molestation

Child molestation was reported to have occurred on Sept. 12 at an Eastside location. This incident is currently under investigation.
