The Athens, Ga., library offers a puppet show suitable for all ages.

Trolls can sometimes create a lot of trouble, but they are no match for Treva! This year’s Winter Puppet Show Week features β€œTrouble with Trolls,” based on the beautifully illustrated children’s book of the same name by writer and illustrator Jan Brett.

The Athens-Clarke County Library invites children of all ages to join our golden-haired Norwegian heroine as she tries to outsmart the mountain trolls. They are determined to capture her dog and keep it for their very own.

Alas, the trolls soon learn, as must everyone, that they cannot simply take whatever they want, especially when it belongs to someone else. This wintry tale teaches respect for others’ belongings while entertaining the audience with a work that demonstrates both bravery and compassion.

Puppet show performances replace all regularly scheduled storytimes. Because the library is under construction, this year’s shows will be at the Lay Park Community Center. Show times are Monday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4 and Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., and Thursday, Dec. 6 and Friday, Dec. 7 at 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
