Two Arrested for Loitering and Prowling in Athens

Around 3pm on April 15 officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the Tuxedo Road area. A neighbor saw a vehicle occupied by a man and a woman in the driveway of a home where the residents were not there.

The neighbor saw the man walking toward the carport. When the neighbor questioned why they were there, the driver gave a name of a subject and said he was supposed to look at a motorcycle. The driver then entered his vehicle and left.

The neighbor followed in his vehicle and stayed on the phone with police, giving their location until officers arrived in the area. Contact was made with the suspects in the parking lot of Ingles on the Atlanta Hwy. After questioning, Billy Joe Hanley, 33, Moreland Drive, Watkinsville, and Kimberly Lynn Nicole Corry, 32, Crane Drive, were arrested and charged with Loitering/Prowling. Corry was also charged with giving False Information and Suspended/Revoked License.

Officers responded to a call about someone entering a car that had just occurred at a Colleton Drive residence. A woman from East Broad Street said she was looking out a front window when she heard a loud vehicle approaching. The vehicle stopped beside hers and the driver exited. He entered her vehicle and rummaged through it. He then returned to his vehicle and drove off. A few minutes later, the vehicle returned and the driver entered her vehicle again. The woman went out and confronted the suspect, who fled in his vehicle. After officers arrived, contact was made with the suspect. The woman made a positive identification on the suspect and he was arrested. Darian Angelo Graziosi, 23, Lone Star Rd, was charged with Entering Auto. This occurred around 3:30am on April 16.

A man who lives on East Paces Drive said he was walking on Barrington Drive around 4pm on April 15. He said in the area of Barrington Place he was jumped on by four to five Hispanic males and sustained injuries to his face. EMS responded and transported him to St. Mary’s Hospital. The victim said the man who initiated the attack was short and stocky. He wore a hat and a blue and white striped shirt. A second suspect wore a white tank top and jeans. A third suspect wore a blue shirt. No descriptions were given of the other suspects.

Officers responded to an alarm at a Breckenridge Lane residence around 2pm on April 15. It was determined that someone had gotten into the house and taken a laptop, iPad and cash. The total value was $11,000.

Around 7:15pm on April 15 officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred at a Kings Road residence. A neighbor saw a black man enter the passenger side of a 1990’s model gold Honda Accord. The driver, also a black male, exited the carport quickly. Both were described as in their 20’s. The vehicle had black “duct tape” on parts of the rear bumper. When the resident arrived home, he determined a TV and laptop with a total value of $2,000 had been stolen.

A man reported that his Riverside Drive residence was burglarized between 5:30pm and 8:30pm on April 15. TVs and a desk top computer were stolen. The total value was $1,350.
