Two-car Accident on Danielsville Road Sends Both Drivers to the Hospital

At 9:58am on March 2, Randall Lee Waters, 53, of Smokey Road in Athens, was traveling northbound on Danielsville Road in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
A 49-year-old Ila woman was traveling southbound on Danielsville Road in a 1995 Dodge Intrepid. As the two vehicles met at the intersection with Howard Drive, the Tacoma pickup truck crossed the center line into the Intrepid’s lane.

The driver of the Intrepid tried to take evasive action, but was unsuccessful and was struck head-on by the pickup truck. Both drivers were transported by EMS for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
Waters was charged by investigating officers with Driving Under The Influence, Failure To Maintain Lane and Failure To Wear Seat Belt.
