UGA Graduates 5,200 Students

The University of Georgia confers degrees today on thousands of undergraduates and graduates today. If you don’t want to move at a snail’s pace in traffic, avoid downtown and Five Points, if possible.
The 1,200 cadidates for master’s, doctoral and specialist in education degrees were eligible to participate in the graduate ceremony at 10 this morning in Stegeman Coliseum. The 4,000 or so undergraduates will receive their degrees at 7 p.m. in Sanford Stadium.

Ray Mabus, secretary of the U.S. Navy, will speak at the undergraduate ceremony, while Karen Holbrook, former provost of UGA, spoke to the graduate students.
Fourteen seniors who kept a 4.0 grade point averages during their college years will be recognized as First Honor Graduates at Friday night's graduation.
