His arrest comes after former UGA defensive lineman Jalen Carter was charged on reckless driving and racing charges in March in connection with the fatal Jan. 15 car crash that killed a University of Georgia football player Devin Willock and UGA recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy near Barnett Shoals Road. Two other members of the UGA football program were injured in the crash. The accident happened shortly after the Georgia Bulldogs celebrated a championship win against the Texas Christian Horned Frogs.

Carter turned himself into the Clarke County Jail, pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 12 months probation, a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service. He has to complete a state-approved defensive driving course. He was drafted ninth overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Willock's estate and his father, Dave Willock Sr., filed a lawsuit in connection with the deadly crash.

The UGA Athletic Association, Carter, LeCroy, the Sarchione Auto Gallery, Peterson Properties, Toppers International, Breadman Jalen and the UGA's Athletic Association's Anna Courson, Logen Reed, Bryant Gantt and two other members are all named as defendants in the lawsuit.

According to CBS Sports, UGA linebacker Jason Dumas-Johnson was charged on suspicion of racing and reckless driving five days prior to the crash that killed Willock and LeCroy.

Bulldogs wide receiver De'Nylon Marquez Morrissette was arrested May 9 in Oconee County and was charged on suspicion of too fast for conditions and following too closely.
