Verizon Adds New Cell Site in Athens

Calling, downloading applications and surfing the web on the Verizon Wireless network is now easier and faster for residents and travelers thanks to a new cell site in Athens. The new site provides enhanced coverage to the Verizon Wireless network near Sanford Stadium and in downtown Athens.

Verizon Wireless announced last month that its 4G LTE network is now substantially complete in Georgia after first launching in Atlanta and Athens in December 2010.

Since 2010, the company has invested more than $550 million on its network in Georgia, with a substantial portion of that supporting its 4G LTE rollout; Verizon’s ongoing network investment in the peach state now totals more than $2.1 billion since the company was formed in 2000.
