Volkswagen Leaves Road, Hits Tree, Sends Driver to Hospital

Around 9pm on July 30, a young girl from West Cloverhurst Avenue was west bound on the inner Loop 10 in a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle.
As she passed another vehicle, her car drifted off the left side of the roadway. She apparently overcorrected and her VW crossed both west bound lanes, left the roadway, and went into a wooded area. The vehicle struck a tree on the driver’s side door.
The driver was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center. This accident, which occurred around 9pm on July 30, is still under investigation.
