Walk Pulaski Street for Tonight's Art Crawl

Like the man whose hand went into a thresher, Valerie Mathews got pulled into the workings of an art crawl. "Once you get going, you can't stop," she says. Whose art could she exhibit? And where? Which businesses would participate? What about food? Music?

As a sculptor and a fulltime UGA employee, Mathews knew she would need help if this year's Pulaski Art Crawl was going to get off the ground, so to speak. So Kate Cook of ARTini's and artist Mary Engle, who actually lives in Pulaski Heights, agreed to help out.

Planning and arranging everything took weeks. When you're expecting 200 to 600 people for a walking art show/food fest/theater fest/music concert/dance, you don't want to leave the details to chance.

But it's all come together, and it begins today at 5pm. It includes the Leathers Building on Pulaski, winds over to Hancock and West Washington and up Prince a bit to the Grit. You can mosey around, take in the art, enjoy the music and libations, and then make your way back to the Leathers Building for more music and food.

So, what are you going to see?

Artists: including, but not limited to, Margo Rosenbaum, Scott Belville, Lisa Freeman, Maria Dondero, Jaime Bull, Ouida Williams, Zack Holloway, Jessica “Cobra” McVey, Trevor Oxley, Maggie Horacek, Margot Ecke, Jonathan Jacquet, Kathryn Refi, Eric Simmons, Leslie Snipes and Anthony Wislar.

Where: Pints and Paints, Shiraz Fine Wine & Gourmet, Chastain, Jenkins & Leathers, Citizen Advocacy, Koons Environmental Design, Standoff Studio, Cassandra Drennon & Associates, Snow Tire, Cine, Sunshine Cycle, Ted's Most Best, Pain and Wonder Tattoo Studio, ARTini's, Flicker Theatre and Bar, Broad Street Studios and at various artist studios on Pulaski.

What else: Theatre from the Circle Ensemble Theatre Company, food from the National and the Grit, music by Hawkproof Rooster, Hart Sawyer and the Love Project and Spirit Tramp.
