10-Year-Old Atlanta Girl Shot While Watching TV

The girl was hit by two bullets at about 11 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

ATLANTA, GA — A 10-year-old Atlanta girl was shot twice Wednesday night while she was inside her home watching television.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were called to Susan Lane, in southwest Atlanta, at about 11:10 p.m. after someone opened fire on the home. The girl was hit in the leg and buttocks by the shots, according to Atlanta Police spokesman Officer Donald Hannah.

No one else inside the home was injured, Hannah said. The girl was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where she was listed in stable condition. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses told police the 10-year-old was in the home's living room watching TV when she was shot.

Thursday morning, police said investigators did not know why someone would shoot up the home. At least six shots were believed to have been fired.
