12 Metro ATL Hospitals Among Nation’s Best: U.S. News Ranking
Hospitals in Fayetteville, Canton, Atlanta, Johns Creek, Marietta and Midtown are named some of best in the metro.
METRO ATLANTA — Twelve hospitals in metro Atlanta are among the best in the country, according to new Best Hospitals rankings released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.
The 34th edition of the rankings recognizes the top 484 regional hospitals, as well as the top 22 “honor roll” hospitals. Hospitals that made the ranking achieved excellence across a range of specialties, U.S. News said.

- No. 1, Emory University Hospital, 1364 Clifton Road, Atlanta
- No. 2, Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital, 5665 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta
- No. 3, Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, 1968 Peachtree Road, Atlanta
- No. 4, Emory University Hospital Midtown, 550 Peachtree St. NE, Midtown
- No. 4, Northside Hospital Atlanta, 1000 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta
- No. 6, WellStar Kennestone Hospital, 677 Church St., Marietta
- No. 7, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, 6325 Hospital Pkwy., Johns Creek
- No. 8, Northside Hospital Cherokee, 450 Northside Cherokee Blvd., Canton
- No. 9, Northside Hospital Gwinnett, 1000 Medical Center Blvd., Lawrenceville
- No. 9, Northside Hospital Forsyth, 1200 Northside Forsyth Drive, Cumming
- No. 11, Grady Memorial Hospital, 80 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive SE, Atlanta
- No. 12, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, 1255 Hwy. 54 W., Fayetteville
University Hospital-Augusta also made the list, ranking No. 1 for metro Augusta.
U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions. Hospitals awarded a “best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, quality of nursing care and patient experience.

This year, U.S. News said it placed more emphasis on objective quality measures and less on expert opinion. Other changes include the introduction of outpatient outcomes in key specialty and surgical rankings.
The rankings are meant to help patients and their doctors make health care decisions, according to Ben Harder, managing editor at U.S. News.

- Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York
- Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota
- UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles
- Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, Boston
Cardiology, heart and vascular surgery:
- Cleveland Clinic
- Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles
- Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota
- Mount Sinai Hospital, New York
- NYU Langone Hospitals, New York
Neurology and neurosurgery
- NYU Langone Hospitals, New York
- UCSF Health-UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco
- New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell
