ATLANTA, GA — A 15-year-old boy is dead and his friend has turned himself in to police in what's being called an accidental shooting Sunday in Atlanta.
Carlos Davis, a student at Mays High School, was shot at about 7 p.m. Sunday, Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said. According to police, four or five students were hanging out in a bedroom at a home on Mercury Drive in northwest Atlanta when the shooting happened.
On Monday, Jefferey Reeves, 17, arrived with his mother at Atlanta Police headquarters to turn himself in for accidentally shooting Carlos, according to Bender. He also turned over the gun used in the shooting, Bender said.

Carlos was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died from his wounds, police said. According to police, Reeves was playing with the pistol in a bedroom where four or five teens were hanging out when the gun fired and hit Carlos.
Reeves is charged with involuntary manslaughter and was taken to Fulton County Jail. Police say Carlos was visiting a friend at the home and that at least one adult was home at the time of the shooting.
