2 Dead In Blaze At Vacant Atlanta Church: Reports

Fire officials told a news outlet the two people who were killed in the fire were using the Atlanta church as shelter.

ATLANTA, GA — A fire at an abandoned Atlanta church killed two people Tuesday night, according to media reports.

The fire sparked around 11:30 p.m. at the Cameron M. Alexander Boulevard church, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Due to the aggression of the blaze, firefighters could not promptly begin a search, the news outlet reported.

"It was so bad that we really had to take a defensive posture on the fire and attack from outside the building,” Atlanta Fire Rescue Anaré Holmes told Atlanta News First.
