2 Dogs, Man Injured In Police Shooting In Fulton

SOUTH FULTON, GA — A police shooting injured a man and two dogs early Thursday in South Fulton, authorities said.

The incident happened after officers with the Fairburn Police Department were called to the scene around 12:15 a.m.

The area occurred in South Fulton Police's jurisdiction but happened near the department's territory with Fairburn Police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

A woman had been sitting in the roadway, and two Fairburn officers responded first, the GBI said. After speaking with the woman and gathering her home address, the GBI said the officers drove her to the Bishop Road home.

After arriving at the home, two dogs charged at the officers, the GBI said. An officer shot toward the dogs, hitting them and the man who lived at the home, the GBI said.

The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, the GBI said. The status of the dogs was not released.

Once the GBI's investigation is completed, the case file will be given to the Atlanta Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for review.
