2 Injured In Georgia Plane Crash

The private plane ran out of gas and crashed in a field, injuring two females.

JONESBORO, GA — A private plane running out of gas crashed overnight in a field in the 300 block of Tara Beech Lane, injuring two females, both the Clayton County Police and the Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday.

Police said the crash happened shortly before midnight, when Clayton County and Fayette County officers responded to a plane in distress call.

The FAA identified the plane as a single-engine Piper PA-28.

Authorities spent more than an hour searching for the plane, which was ultimately found at Tara Beech Lane.

The two females who were injured were found on the forest floor, not inside of the plane, police said. They suffered non-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
