4 Georgia Restaurants On 'America's Favorite' List

4 Georgia restaurants have been picked by Bon Appétit for its 'America's Favorite Neighborhood Restaurants' project.

ATLANTA, GA — Most people know the popular eateries or hot spots in their city, but Bon Appétit is sharing America's Favorite Neighborhood Restaurants thanks to the opinions of dozens of interesting people across the country. Bon Appétit said they asked 80 people - writers, novelists, chefs, comedians, NBA players and more - to give the scoop on their go-to haunts.

Atlanta had three restaurants on the list, including soul food standout The Beautiful, Fellini's Pizza, and a bakery that also serves up tasty shrimp and grits, while one Savannah eatery also made the list.

"These are the spots we return to again and again, the places that make no claim to be the newest or the trendiest, and that’s precisely why we love them," Bon Appétit's editors said.

The Beautiful: "Every time I return home, I make a trip to The Beautiful. ... On one of my last visits, I realized the restaurant had a website, something I’d never considered," wrote Rembert Browne. "I’m glad I did because on that site I learned that the early religious feeling I got from the place was justified. The name comes from the New Testament, Acts 3:2. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple."

Fellini’s Pizza: “I start with the house salad: black and green olives, mozzarella, iceberg, tomatoes, and the dressing is a beast," writes fan and actor Brian Tyree Henry of "Atlanta" and "Hotel Artemis." I then usually get two slices with extra cheese, meatballs, Italian sausage, black olives, and tomatoes, then top those bad boys with the Parm at the table. Anytime I visit, especially while shooting Atlanta, I bring everyone with me. I make sure they all understand how much comfort this place gives me, and I dare them to not like anything on the menu. Otherwise the friendship can just stop right there.”

Highland Bakery: “Seating is scarce at Highland Bakery, so get there early if you love shrimp and grits and friendly service. The last time I visited, the sweetest waitress brought over the most delicious cinnamon roll and a note, politely and discreetly sharing her young daughter’s fondness for my work," says actress Logan Browning, known for "Dear White People." "Highland Bakery is a classic — no frills, just a great vibe and a great meal.”

Savannah restaurant Narobia’s Grits & Gravy also earned praise. “This is my neighborhood spot in Savannah. Their grits are off the chain! It’s just good home-style Southern cooking and one of the best breakfasts,” says Mashama Bailey, the chef at The Grey.
