4 Overnight Fires Ignite In Atlanta, Decatur; 2 Displaced: Reports

Three people safely escaped two house fires while a blaze consumed an abandoned home and a homeless camp suffered a fire.

ATLANTA — Multiple fires in Atlanta and Decatur had crews busy overnight though no one was reported injured in any of the fires, according to Fox 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First.

A blaze consumed an abandoned Martin Luther King Jr. Drive house around 1:30 a.m. Thursday in Atlanta, per the media reports. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

A man safely escaped a Northview Avenue home fire around 2:15 a.m. Thursday in Decatur, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. The homeowner told Atlanta News First the fire began in a bedroom and could have been caused by an electrical problem.

Two people safely escaped a 3 a.m. Fayetteville Road fire Thursday in Atlanta, per the media reports. Atlanta News First reported heavy smoke to the home's roof. The outlet also reported the two residents were displaced.

According to Atlanta News First, a homeless camp on the Cheshire Bridge in Atlanta caught fire sometime Wednesday night though firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it before bridge damage was done.
