40 MPH Winds, Lightning Possible As Strong Storms Arrive: GA Easter Forecast

Strong storms with 40 mph winds, lightning and hail are possible in Georgia heading into the Easter weekend, forecasters told Patch.

April showers are returning to Georgia, just in time for the Easter holiday, and forecasters told Patch they will start Tuesday afternoon.

Vaughn Smith is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office. He told Patch the daily forecast of showers and storms fall in line with a normal springtime pattern.

North and central Georgia may be drenched at least through Monday.

Across the region, there was a 60 percent rain chance for Easter Sunday.

In case residents are planning to travel for the holiday weekend, they may want to be mindful the Georgia forecast nearly aligns with that across the U.S.

A week of severe storms could transition into drenching showers and weekend severe storms that will head East and South across the Mississippi Valley and Appalachians, AccuWeather reported.
