$48M In Scratch-Off Prizes Won In GA, Lottery Officials Say

There were multiple million-dollar winners recently as the Georgia Lottery launched a new game that could land you $100,000 a year for life.

Multiple residents became $1 million richer after winning hefty prizes through the Georgia Lottery, while recent scratch-off profits totaled more than $48 million.

The Georgia Lottery Corporation released the latest list of winners this week, which includes two victors of a new nightly game with $1 million or $100,000 a year for life top prizes.

A Lithia Springs resident won $7,500 in Tuesday's drawing of the brand-new Millionaire for Life game. The winning ticket was purchased from a gas station in the 7500 block of Lee Road.

In Tifton, the Millionaire for Life winner scored $7,500 in the game's March 27 drawing with a ticket bought at a Central Avenue South food mart.

The winning tickets matched four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Millionaire ball.

Millionaire for Life drawings are held at 11:15 p.m. nightly. Tickets, with a $5 prize tag, are sold until 10:15 p.m.

Tuesday was a lucky day for someone in Snellville, where a player won $30,000 in the Mega Millions drawing, officials said. The built-in 3x Megaplier tripled the $10,000 prize.

Friday's Mega Millions jackpot stood at $90 million on Thursday afternoon.

Recent game winnings are in addition to $48,427,289 in claimed prizes from scratch-off tickets last week, officials said.

A Fort Valley player won $1 million with the 2nd Edition Billionaire Club scratch-off. The winner on Wednesday collected the top prize as a lump sum of $535,398.06.

In St. Marys, a 50x the Money scratch-off was worth $1 million. The lucky player claimed their winnings Monday.

Other winners included the following:

  • A Ludowici resident hit the jackpot for $528,931 in the March 28 Fantasy 5 drawing.
  • A Braselton player won $50,000 in the March 28 Powerball drawing.
  • An Ellabell resident won $138,693 playing 50x the Money Quick Win on March 28.

The following are the most recent Diggi game winners:

  • A Pembroke resident won $25,000 playing Bank Boost! on March 27
  • A Monticello player on Sunday won $20,000 playing Disco Pig Lucky Coins.
  • A Conyers player won $11,212 playing Jackpot Spectacular on March 26.
  • A Jonesboro resident on Sunday won $10,598 playing Elephant King Jackpots.
  • Another player on Monday in Jonesboro won $10,000 playing Bank Boost!
  • A Brunswick resident on Wednesday won $72,000 playing 50x the Luck Linked Wins.

All funding from the Georgia Lottery's digital games, scratch-offs and other games benefit education in the Peach State, lottery officials said.

Online winning tickets have an expiration date of 180 days from the drawing date while instant ticket winners have 90 days from the expired date to claim prizes. Instructions on how to receive prizes are here.

Georgia takes 5.75 percent in state taxes and 24 percent in federal taxes for winnings more than $5,000.

"The (Georgia Lottery Corporation) reports to the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue the names of winners of prizes above $600. ... Additionally, the GLC is required to check for and deduct any outstanding child support payments for prizes of $2,500 and above and student loans and state taxes for prizes of $5,000 and above, net of wager or ticket cost," lottery officials said on the Georgia Lottery website.
