76 Cars Broken Into At Apartment Near Beltline

Thieves broke into 76 cars at The Edge apartment complex, which faces the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine.

ATLANTA, GA — Seventy-six cars were broken into Sunday night at an apartment complex near the Atlanta BeltLine, reports WSB. According to Atlanta police, investigators are searching for the suspects and they’ve increased patrols in the area.

Residents of The Edge found shattered glass spread across the parking lot from the broken windows. Unwanted items were also tossed onto the ground.

One resident told WSB that he pays $1,800 for a one-bedroom.

The property’s new owner, The Connor Group said they will install extra security cameras, as well as hire a 24/7 security officer. The apartments face the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine.

According to Atlanta police crime statistics on car break-ins in Zone 6, there has been a 36 percent increase in larcenies from autos from Dec. 14 to Jan. 11, the most recent 28-day period.

Zone 6 is located in East Atlanta and contains Boulevard Heights, Cabbagetown, Candler Park, Druid Hills, East Atlanta, East Lake, Edgewood, Emory Village, Glenwood Park, Grant Park, Inman Park, Little Five Points, Old Fourth Ward, Ormewood, Kirkwood, Poncey-Highland, Sweet Auburn, Reynoldstown, Virginia Highland and Woodland Hills.
